Kadidja: Shea Butter Processing -
Last year, I visited my shea supplier in Ghana and had a go at mixing shea as part of the process of making the butter. This is how women in West Africa have made shea for thousands of years. Shea butter is extracted from shea nuts using nothing but water and heat. No strange chemicals are used, no preservatives are added. So, nothing but shea butter ends up on your skin (plus organic essential oils that I add that provide additional benefits).
Further, every time you buy my products, you’re supporting these women. They are, literally, my sisters – in Gando, Togo, where I grew up, my sisters make shea butter, too. More than 15 million women are directly involved in shea across West Africa, according to the Global Shea Alliance!
